It’s hard to believe the end of another year is quickly approaching. For those with dental insurance, it is time to renew or change plans. It is also important to think about remaining benefits for the year. There are many reasons why patients should take advantage of remaining dental benefits. Let’s look at a few.
Loss of Benefits
Most dental plans run on a calendar year which means they will renew on January 1st. Therefore, each December our office receives several frantic requests to get in before the end of the year. If dental benefits do not get used, they simply disappear. Unfortunately, most dental plans do not have rollover benefits. If patients do not schedule appointments before the end of the year, many needs go unaddressed due to the shortage of time before the holidays.
Termination of Plans
Additionally, with the growing costs, employers may decide not to offer dental insurance at all with the start of a new year. Many patients do not realize this is the case until they arrive for their dental visit in the new year. Therefore, patients may have put off treatment only to discover they have no insurance benefits to use towards treatment. Additional Dental Needs
Unfortunately, we never know what needs may arise in the coming months. Sometimes patients put off treatment until the next year, only to find that there are new problems diagnosed the next year that will use insurance benefits.
